Idada (version of dhokla)


Rice – 3 cup
Urad dal – 1 cup
pepper powder- 1 to 2 Teaspoons
Salt to taste
oil – as required
Fruit Salt – 1 Teaspoon


Soak rice and dal seperatly for whole night. Grind coarsely and seperatly. Ferment for 6 to 7 hours.

Add salt and pepper powder and mix well.

Add fruit salt and hot oil and mix well.

Take steamer plate and spread oil. Pour sufficient batter and make thin layer.sprinkle pepper powder and steam for 10 to 12 minutes on till cook well.

Cut into pieces and serve hot with Garlic Coconut Chutney, Green Chutney, Mint Chutney or Garlic chutney.
