Woohoo!!! Festival is here, and today is “Gudi Padwa”
Festivals are always about good and exotic food, the kind which we don’t make in day to day cooking.
Before two days, when I visited the fruit shop, I saw beautiful fresh ripe chikoo/Sapodilla there. The first thought that came to my mind was “Chikoo Halwa”as Gudi Padwa dessert. Yo, sounds delicious.
If we can make Carrot Halwa or Lauki Halwa as a treat, why not Chikoo Halwa?
So let’s start to make Chikoo Halwa.
This halwa make from only 3 ingredients – chikoo, ghee and milk powder. These all ingredients easily available in every home. So no need to go outside. Just chilled and make this delicious dessert.
Preparation time – 5 minutes
Cooking time -10 to 15 minutes
Ingredients:
Chikoo, peeled, chopped – 4 pieces
Ghee – ½ Teaspoon
Coco powder – 1 Teaspoon
Milk powder – 4 to 5 Tablespoons
Cashew nuts, chopped – 1 Tablespoon
Kismis – 8 to 10
Almond, finely chopped – for garnishing
Method:
Heat ghee in kadai, add chopped chikoos, sauté for 1 minute.
Add milk powder, coco powder, cashew nuts, kismis mix well. Cook mixture till leave the pan edges.
Ready to serve. Sprinkle some almonds.
You can have this halwa chilled too.
Loved your creation.. I love Chickoo. And miss my favorite fruit here in US.
Very nice innovative recipe 😀
Hi Rachana, Thank you so much for your kind words. It's strange, you don't get chikoobin US. If you get chikoo, must try. You will definitely love this as you are chikoo lover. Thanks once again.
Chikku is a favourite fruit, loving halwa made of it… looks so yum
