Papad Ki Sabzi with Butter Milk

This recipe is really easy and simple to make with very few ingredients.

Preparation Time : 5 Minutes

Cooking Time : 10 Minutes

Ingredients :

Urad Papad – 5 Nos

Buttermilk – 500 ml

Mustard Seeds

Cumin Seeds


Turmeric Powder

Red Chilli Powder

Salt to taste

Corn Flour 1 tbsp

Garlic – 18 to 10 Cloves

Coriander Leaves


  1. Take a pan and put it on high flame
  2. Add an oil and allow to heat up
  3. Take buttermilk on side while oil heats up and add corn flour to it. This will ensure buttermilk does not curdle when we add buttermilk while stirring
  4. Check oil should be properly heated
  5. Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds and garlic
  6. Saute well
  7. Add now turmeric powder, red chilli powder and asafoetida
  8. Now slowly add buttermilk. Do not add entire buttermilk in one go. Add in small quantity and keep stirring to avoid lump and curdle
  9. Simmer for about 2 minutes
  10. Now take Urad papads and with hand, break them into pieces / shape of your choice
  11. Add them to mixture and keep stirring for 2 minutes
  12. Add all remaining papads and cook for about 10 minutes. Papads should be soft by then. While cooking, take one piece of papad and gently check if it has soften
  13. Add Coriander
  14. Serve Hot
